Now known as Long-nosed Fur Seal, also called Australasian Fur Seal, South Australian Fur Seal or Antipodean Fur Seal. Native to Macquarie Island, West Australia, South Australia, North and South Island New Zealand.

Found on coast, continental slope and shelf waters of Vic, Tas and NSW. Population 40,000 to 60,000. Eats pelagic and mid-water fish and cephalopods, can dive to at least 200 m.
