7 BLACK FLYING FOX Pteropus alecto

Ranges across northern and eastern Australia, some colonies in west of WA, massive extension of range south to Sydney in past years. Forms daytime roost camps. Eats mostly nectar from eucalyptus, melaleucas, turpentines, also fruits and leaf material. Can fly up to 50 kms each night in search of flowering or fruit trees.
