Number of subspecies, known by different names Common Wallaroos, Eastern Wallaroos, Barrow Island Wallaroo. Widespread and common over much of Australia in rocky ranges, isolated hills, scarps and plateaux. Nocturnal and crepuscular, mostly solitary; moves after dark to flat ground to feed.
