14 RUSA Cervus timoriensis

Introduced to numerous sites in e. Australia. Mainly survived around Royal National Park, south of Sydney. Usually wary, nocturnal and crepuscular. Forms single sex herd outside of rutting season. During rut males adorn antlers with vegetation to enhance display. Antlers cast in Dec-Jan but back by June.
