Formerly known as Ring-tailed Wallaby. Two subspecies: xanthopus found in SA (listed as vulnerable, 2000-6500 animals) and western NSW (170-250 animals);and celeris, isolated pockets in Queensland (listed as vulnerable). Not found near human habitation, prefers rough terrain, rocky outcrops.
